In November 2023, two researchers graduated from the National University of Córdoba received the highest recognition for Argentine science in the last decade: the Konex brilliant award, which went to the doctor in Biological Sciences Sandra Díaz and the doctor in Chemical Sciences Gabriel Rabinovich, for his work between 2013 and 2022.
Gabriel Rabinovich was born in Córdoba. He has a doctorate in Chemical Sciences at UNC. Today he is a senior researcher at Conicet and a professor at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires.
Their discoveries revealed a new paradigm for controlling the immune response, allowing the design of innovative therapies, based on the modulation of galectins and glycans, in cancer, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Stanford University ranked him among the 2% of the most cited scientists in the world.
