Northwest missouri State UniversityS Board of Regents approved the university’s $115.9 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year during its last meeting on Wednesday, including both Education and general and Auxiliary Services budgets.
The budget reflects enrollment changes and investments in the student experience.

The university is adapting to shifting demographics and financial constraints while aiming to improve the student experience. The FY26 budget, a complete framework, aligns with Northwest’s multi-year strategic goals. The board’s recent approval follows their may approval of tuition and fees.
Stacy Carrick, Northwest’s vice president of finance and management, noted a projected 2.9 percent decrease in the Education and General budget, alongside a 4 percent decrease in Auxiliary Services. These projections are affected by enrollment changes and the increasing need for flexibility in operating expenses, as noted by Carrick.
Honoring Legacies
The Board of Regents also approved naming facilities in honor of individuals who have made lasting contributions to the university.
Mark Rosewell
The new tennis facility will be named the Mark Rosewell Tennis Center.the facility, previously known as the Frank Grube Tennis Courts, was rededicated in 2019. Rosewell has coached men’s and women’s tennis at the university since 1984, with his teams amassing over 1,200 victories and numerous titles.
Dr. Andy peterson,director of Athletics,said,”Coach Rosewell’s long-standing dedication to Northwest Missouri State University,the MIAA and the NCAA make him a deserving candidate for this honor.”
John Redden
The university’s Maintenance Building will be renamed the John C. Redden Jr. Maintenance Building. Redden served the university for 45 years and played a key role in its alternative fuels program.
Carrick stated, “Mr. Redden’s long-standing dedication to Northwest missouri State university and the Maryville community makes him a deserving candidate for this honor.”
Other Board Decisions
In other business, the Board of Regents approved the appointments of 235 full-time faculty for the 2025-26 academic year. Moreover, Northwest President Dr. Lance Tatum provided updates regarding the university’s infrastructure modernization project and federal legislative issues.

John Moore,a Board member since 2018 and chair from 2020 to 2023,announced his resignation. Moore, a 1978 alumnus, noted that this meeting was his 100th as a board member. He has also contributed to various campus projects, including the Carl and Cheryl Hughes Fieldhouse.
Moore said, “This is a place that I just feel very passionate about, and as I’ve spent time here and met new people along with the people I already knew before, my respect and admiration for them has only grown.”
