One of the news that resonated a lot in Peruvian football in recent days was the announcement that Reimond Manco gave about his intention to play League 1 again. And after more than a year without playing in any professional championship (among First and Second) and focusing on his business and playing in amateur tournaments, a few hours ago he was made official as a new signing for Unión Comercio. For this reason, the question arises of when he could make his debut this year.

The life of the ‘Rei’ took a radical turn when he decided to move away from the fields after having played League 2 with Juan Aurich in 2022. According to statements he himself gave, the death of his father affected him emotionally that he did not have the strength to train or play matches in their best version. As a result, he chose to dedicate his time to putting emphasis on his personal projects.

Precisely, among his tasks, he focused on commenting on current national football in the program ‘Cojo y Manco’ alongside journalist Horacio Zimmermann. Likewise, he participated in 7-a-side soccer competitions in the United States and also in the renowned competition, the Kings League Americas, where he was able to score a goal.

After being away from professional activity for more than a year, Reimond Manco announced a week ago that he intended to return to the First Division of Peruvian soccer. His family was a key factor for that slogan. Along these lines, he offered himself to Unión Comercio and Sport Boys.

And unexpectedly, the ‘Rei’ was announced as a new signing for Unión Comercio on the night of Wednesday, April 24, to face League 1.

However, the ‘powerful of Alto Mayo’ is not having a good time in the Apertura Tournament: it is in the last position with six points as a result of the three draws, one win and eight defeats that it accumulated, so the presence of Manco Albarracín emerges as an emerging option to get out of the relegation zone.

And when could it debut? Although the footballer himself admitted that he has been preparing to have this opportunity, it is known that the conditioning to compete in the First Division tournament is rigorous, hence he needs some time to be available to the technical team headed by Milton García.

In this way, the former ‘Jotita’ is expected to be absent against Sport Boys in Callao (April 27) and could debut against Comerciantes Unidos in Cajabamba on May 4 or the 10th of the same month against ADT in Tarapoto. And if it is decided that the midfielder has a better readaptation, the preparation could last a month and his debut would be on May 24 against Cienciano.

As mentioned above, Reimond Manco had indicated in the program ‘Cojo y Manco’ about his decision to return to professional football, implying that he would be willing to play for Unión Comercio and Sport Boys.

In the jungle team he already had a stage (2017 and 2018) in which he scored seven goals and provided 14 assists in 69 games. On this occasion, he sent a message to the president of the club, Fredy Chávez. This would have been crucial in marking his return.

“Mr. Fredy Chávez, it is not possible for you to continue fighting for relegation. You know how much love I have for your institution, so please call me, no matter the money, we can talk about it. But call me to put your ‘chimichurri’ with Juane and Tacacho fed up, so we can save the relegation with Comercio. Don’t worry, you know I’m a specialist in that, but ask Boys’ kneeling.
