The administration of US President Joe Biden is increasing pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a deal in the coming months – recognition of a Palestinian state by Israel in exchange for normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia.

This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, has stressed that Canberra is willing to consider recognizing a Palestinian state as a way of promoting a two-state solution. Wong also expressed confidence that without recognition of a Palestinian state by countries in the region, Israel’s long-term security will remain at risk.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez announced his country’s readiness to recognize a “sovereign Palestinian state” by July of this year. The Spanish foreign minister added that he believes there will soon be a “critical mass” in the European Union that will push several member states to take the same position.

In addition, Cursor has already reported that Michaul Martin, Ireland’s Foreign Minister, announced his country’s intention to begin the process of recognizing a Palestinian state in the coming weeks. Martin later told reporters that a formal proposal would be presented within the next few weeks. He noted that over the past six months he had been discussing this issue with other countries participating in peace initiatives.
