BNP National Executive Committee Vice Chairman and former Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury has been released on bail after 3 months and 23 days.

He was released on bail from the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) at 8:50 pm on Sunday (February 25), BNP Chairperson Media Wing Officer Shamsuddin Didar said.

At this time, a large number of leaders and activists from Central and Patuakhali welcomed Altaf Hossain Chowdhury with flowers.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, former chief of the Air Force, from Tongi area of ​​Gazipur on November 5 during the one-party movement to overthrow the government.

The prison authorities arranged for the 82-year-old former home minister to be treated at BSMMU for better treatment when he fell ill while in the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.

Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) ordered to send him to jail after arresting him in a case of Ramna Police Station in connection with the attack, vandalism and violence at the Chief Justice’s residence on the day of the BNP rally on October 28.

Last Thursday, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka granted bail to Altaf Hossain Chowdhury in the case of attack on the residence of the Chief Justice.

His lawyer Taherul Islam said that Altaf Hossain Chowdhury was arrested in four separate cases surrounding the October 28 mass gathering. Altaf Hossain Chowdhury was sentenced in an old sabotage case. Later he got bail in all the cases.

Earlier, on January 30, the High Court directed the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka to dispose of Altaf Hossain Chowdhury’s bail application in accordance with the law.
