Bharatha Circus Movie Review & Rating: If you look around you will see people who judge people by their color, appearance, name, caste and religion at first sight and approach them with prejudice. What if the government and the system itself start hunting you down with such prejudices? ‘Bharata Circus’ is a film that talks about such a trapeze game, the wormholes in the system where people ‘play circus with their lives’.

Lakshmanan Kani (Binu Pappu) is a cow rearer for his livelihood. Lakshman, whose wife died, has only his daughter Ponni. One day, Lakshmanan unexpectedly sees a nude video of her coming to Ponni’s phone. Unable to bear his anger and distress, Lakshmana scolds and beats his daughter. Broken hearted Ponni tries to commit suicide. Lakshmanan takes his unconscious daughter to the hospital and goes straight to the police station. Lakshmanan is coming to find the person who recorded the nude video of his daughter and to ensure that the video is not circulated on social media, requesting the help of the police and the cyber cell. The police took over the case and started investigation, but the course of the case changed due to the intervention of some external forces.

Perversions by some of the police officers with vested interests compound the issues. Innocent Lakshmana’s life is turning into a death pit exercise. ‘Bharata Circus’ is progressing by making the audience worry about whether Laxman can escape from the traps that are waiting for him. The film tells the story of Lakshmanan’s struggle for justice and survival.

Binu Pappu and Shine Tom Chacko are the heroes of the film. Binu Pappu lives as a spectator of Lakshmana. A father’s pain, whining and anger when he is humiliated flashes in Binu. Binu has also taken care to be very involved in all the emotional scenes. Binu is underlining that Tanini will also be seen here in Malayalam cinema with core characters. ‘Bharata Circus’ is also a film that makes good use of Shine Tom Chacko’s body language and ‘angryman look’. The character of Anup Unnithan, who speaks from the human side, was safe in Shine’s hands. Director MA Nishad is another one who surprised with his acting. Jafar Idukki, Prajod Kalabhavan, Sunil Sukhada, Aaradhya Ann, Megha Thomas, Sudhir Karamana, Abhijah, Jayakrishnan, Pashanam Shaji, Jolly Chirayat, Lali PM and others are the main actors of the film.

‘Bharata Circus’ is a slap in the face for those who indulge in the caste spirit. The film exposes the corrupt system that separates people based on caste, religion and skin color. The placement of the song ‘Pulayadi Makkalk Pulaan Bhaga Pulayante Makakode Pulaan Bhaga’ is also worth a special mention. Director Sohan Seenulal has managed to tell a topic that needs to be told precisely and in a way that affects the audience as well. The film is written by Muhad Vembaya. When the police and the system frame helpless people, breaking through is not as easy a process as the movie suggests. However, the director and screenwriter deserve appreciation for using the popular medium of cinema to bring such a subject to society.

The film is produced by Anuj Shaji under the banner of Best Way Entertainment. Binu Kurien’s visuals and V Sajan’s editing do justice to the theme. BG Bal is the music director of the film. Bharata Circus, which hit the theaters without any big star cast, advertisement or promotion, is a must watch film. ‘Bharata Circus’ reminds us not only about the rules guaranteed by the government to a citizen, but also about some of the traps lurking around us.
