It has been 2 years since India’s Vanambadi Lata Mangeshkar died. That 70-year journey ended on February 6, 2022 at the age of 92. Indian film music branch can be marked as pre and post Lataji.

Lata Mangeshkar’s life is a life that rose from a childhood of misery to the status of Vanambadi of India. Lata was born on September 28, 1929, the eldest of six children of Maratha theater singer Deenath Mangeshkar and Suddhamati. On the first day, the name was Hema. Later, the name was changed to Lata in association with Latika, the name of the character in Deenanath’s play Bhavbandhan. Lata takes music lessons as a child from her father. Lata, who started acting in her father’s musicals at the age of five, and her family was hit hard by her father’s sudden death.

Lata’s father died when she was 13 years old. With this, Kunjulata, who took the responsibility of the family, matured his innate art and earned income. Lata built her career first in acting and then in music. Lata Mangeshkar entered the film playback singing scene in 1942.

In 1949, singer Lata’s golden age began with the hit song Uthaye Ja Unki Sitham. More than 30000 movie songs have been sung in 15 languages. Lata Mangeshkar is among the most recorded songs in the world. From the 1950s to the 90s, Lata Mangeshkar literally ruled the Bollywood playback singing scene.

Lata Mangeshkar’s only Malayalam song is the song starting with ‘Kadali Chengadali Chengadali poo veno..’ from the film Nell. Vayalar Ramavarma’s lyrics were composed by Salil Choudhary. Lata Mangeshkar, who composed the music for some of the songs, has produced four films. Lata’s other hobbies were photography, cricket, reading and cooking.

He has sung over 30,000 songs in over thirty five Indian and foreign languages. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Dada Sahib Phalke Award and the Legion of Honor, the highest civilian honor of the French government. She won the National Film Award for Best Singer three times.

India’s Vanambadi passed away at the age of 92. He died in Mumbai due to lung disease.
