Stade Rennais has parted ways with its coach, Habib Beye, following a disappointing defeat to Lens on Saturday (1-3). The decision, finalized at a midday meeting this Monday, marks the end of Beye’s tenure and the departure of his three deputies: Olivier Saragaglia, Sebastien Bichard, and Yann Cavezza.
Sébastien Tambouret, the coach of the reserve team, will take the helm on an interim basis starting this Monday afternoon, supported by Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Maxime Le Marchand. Meanwhile, the club searches for a permanent replacement, with Franck Haise emerging as the frontrunner.
Haise is currently available after leaving OGC Nice on December 28, 2025. Rennes reportedly made initial contact with the 54-year-old on Sunday evening, and he is said to be receptive to the opportunity, having previously worked within the club’s training system for six years (2006-2012).
Haise Won’t Be on the Bench Against Paris
Haise’s name surfaced previously when Beye’s position was first in jeopardy back in October. He shares a strong working relationship with Rennes President Arnaud Pouille, having led Lens to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 in 2023. While negotiations have begun, a deal isn’t yet finalized.
However, Haise is unlikely to be in charge before Rennes’ match against Paris Saint-Germain this Friday, February 13 (7 p.m.) at Roazhon Park. Sources indicate the timeframe is too tight for an immediate introduction, especially considering his travel arrangements from abroad. The interim coaching staff (Tambouret, Lelièvre, Le Marchand) are therefore expected to lead the team against the reigning champions, providing the club with additional time to finalize the agreement with their new coach.
