The renovation work of Postgola Bridge (Buriganga-1) is starting from today (February 22). It will continue till March 8. At this time, the police is afraid of traffic congestion in 21 districts including Dhaka.

The traffic police has called for the use of alternative routes for the renovation work of Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge in Postgola till March 8 due to the fear of increased traffic.

In this regard, the representatives of seven organizations, including the traffic department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, held a meeting at the DMP headquarters on Sunday. At the end of the meeting Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Md. Munibur Rahman said that during the renovation work of the bridge, we have held a meeting with all those concerned about which way the heavy vehicles will come from outside the Dhaka city, possibly by which route they can come and go. A public notice has been published in this regard. How DMP can work, how DMP can be supported by other partners, is discussed.

The public notice divides the possible routes into heavy and light categories. Alternative routes have also been discussed. Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Md. Munibur Rahman said that if there is any problem in the routes mentioned in the notification, it has also been said about the alternative routes.

In the notification of the Directorate of Roads, 6 districts of Barisal Division (Barisal, Bhola, Barguna, Jhalkathi, Patuakhali, Pirojpur), 10 districts of Khulna Division (Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore, Kushtia, Narail, Magura, Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Meherpur), and larger 5 districts of Faridpur part (Faridpur, Shariatpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Rajbari) have been requested to follow the general guidelines from February 22 in respect of movement of vehicles (departure and arrival) to other parts of the country. Vehicles entering and leaving Dhaka Metropolitan City (DMP) Daulatdia, Paturia , Nabinagar, Aminbazar, Gabtali route has been asked to follow. Passenger buses will stop at Gabtali instead of Sayedabad.

In other districts of Dhaka Division (Dhaka (partial), Manikganj, Gazipur, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Kishoreganj, Tangail (partial)) vehicles have been asked to use Asian Highway via Daulatdia and Paturia, Nabinagar, Baipail, Chandra, Bhogra intersection.

Rajshahi, Rangpur Division bound vehicles are asked to travel using Lalonshah Bridge (Kushtia, Pabna).

Mymensingh Division and Tangail District (partial) travel has been asked to travel via Lalonshah Bridge (Kushtia, Pabna) and Bangabandhu Bridge.

Sylhet Division and Brahmanbaria District have been asked to use Asian Highway via Daulatdia, Paturia and Nabinagar, Bypail, Chandra, Bhogra intersections.

For traveling to Chittagong Division, it has been asked to travel via Padma Bridge via Srinagar, Munshiganj, Muktarpur Bridge, Tutiya Shitalakshya Bridge, Madanpur. Or people traveling to Chittagong division are asked to travel by using Chandpur ferry from Shariatpur.
