Companies in the renting sector invested almost 6,000 million euros (5,998 million) in the acquisition of vehicles in the first eleven months of 2023, a figure 19.4% above the amount recorded in the same period last year, according to data published by the Spanish Vehicle Rental Association (AER), according to Europa Press.

Registrations in this market channel stood at 269,402 units since January, which represents a progression of 17.9% in the year-on-year comparison, although it represents a smaller increase than that of the market as a whole, which has increased by 18.2 % until November, with 1.02 million vehicles.

In the month of November alone, 24,426 rental vehicles were registered in the Spanish market, a 3.5% year-on-year increase, while total vehicle sales rose by 11.5%, to 95,751 units.

Thus, renting accounted for 50.9% of the entire business channel in the penultimate month of the year, while in November 2022 it accounted for 48.2%.

The president of the association, José-Martín Castro Acebes, highlighted that vehicles powered by alternative energies “continue to gain presence”, accounting for 36.5% of the total. “Renting maintains the growth rate expected for this end of the year,” he noted.

Renault led the rental market in Spain, ahead of Volkswagen, Peugeot, Toyota, Ford, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Citroën and Seat, while the most in-demand models were: Renault Express, Nissan Qashqai, Volkswagen T-Roc, Renault, Clio, Citroën Berlingo, Ford Transit, Seat Arona, Audi Q3, Renault Kangoo and Toyota C-HR.
