Shusha is a beautiful and magical, majestic and noble, proud, free and sacred place for Azerbaijanis! These days there is a magnificent festive atmosphere in the city.
And it is significant that the grand opening of the VII International Music Festival “Kharybulbul” took place in Shusha, organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan from May 11 to 13, as Day.Az reports, a Trend correspondent reported from the scene of the event.
The festival takes place over three days in Shusha and Lachin. The city of Shusha has been declared the “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” for 2024. Last November, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on measures in this regard.
The international music festival “Kharybulbul” is a celebration of friendship and music, in which numerous musicians from many countries of the world take part, contributes to the preservation of the rich traditions of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, as well as strengthening intercultural dialogue, creating favorable conditions for communication and cooperation of musicians representing different countries .
Among the guests of the festival are government and public figures, representatives of culture and science, creative intelligentsia and youth.
The opening concert of the Year “Shusha – the cultural capital of the Islamic world – 2024” and the VII International Music Festival “Kharybulbul” was presented at Jydyr Dyuzu with the participation of famous masters of art and young talents, musicians and vocalists, performers of mugham, classical and folk music, and choreographic groups. Among the festival participants are performers and creative groups from ISESCO member countries, along with Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Guinea, Morocco, Uzbekistan, and Turkey are represented.
One of the brightest moments was the performance of an equestrian detachment on 27 Karabakh horses, which solemnly went to Jydyr-duzu with the flags of ISESCO member countries.
Famous performers from different countries took part in the concert: people’s artists of Azerbaijan Arif Babaev, Gulyanag Mamedova, Polad Bulbuloglu, Zeinab Khanlarova, Zulfiya Khanbabaeva, Sevda Alekperzade, honored artist of Kazakhstan Alisher Kerimov, Abubakar Silla from Guinea, people’s artist of Uzbekistan Nasiba Abdullayeva, Husnu Shenlendirji. from Turkey, as well as group “Ashugi”, Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble, group “Almazyood” (UAE), “Sendja Community” (Indonesia), group “Qılınc rəqqasları” (Qatar), “Tizwit” (Morocco), “Anadolu ateshi” (Turkey), song and dance ensemble “Navbahor” (Uzbekistan) and others. The amazing performances of the artists were accompanied by stormy applause from the audience. The festive program ended with the joint performance of the composition “Sesin gelsin, Xarı Bülbül” by all participants. After all, the black bulb is a symbol of love and peace, a real treasure of Azerbaijan, a symbol of Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War.

It should be noted that the “Kharybulbul” Music Festival, named after the flower – the symbol of the city of Shusha, has been held since 1989. The festival was held in May of the same year in the village of Abdal Gyulably, Aghdam region, in connection with the 100th anniversary of the famous khanende, teacher, people’s artist Seyid Shushinsky, continued in Shusha and ended with a concert in Aghdam.
Since 1990, the Kharybulbul festival has acquired international status. During the Karabakh conflict, the main concerts of the festival were held in Agdam. Some concerts of the festival were also held in Barda and Agjabedi. After the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from occupation during the 44-day war, which ended in the country’s historic victory, the festival returned to Shusha. And this year the festival space will expand and also cover the city of Lachin.
