Republic Day Parade 2022: Meet the Malayalee Women of CRPF’s Yasaswini Motorcycle Adventure Performance Team

New Delhi: On Republic Day, this time, the parade of the Malayalees is moving along the Kartavya Path. The CRPF’s 262-member motorcycle adventure performance team ‘Yasaswini’ has 10 Malayali women: members of the Nagpur CRPF 213 Mahila Battalion.

Yashaswini team presents adventurous performances like Beam Roll, Pyramid, All Round Defense, Nari Shakti and Arrow Head. In 3 of these there will be an adventurous performance by Malayalees.

∙ Ryders and Co. Ryders

5 Malayalam riders and 5 co-riders are participating in the parade. M.K.Jinsi (Parakkadav, Kozhikode), Anju Sajeev (Kadakkal, Kollam), Aparna Devdas (Walayar, Palakkad), C. The riders are Meenambika (Puthur, Palakkad) and CP Aswathi (Patambi, Palakkad). N. Sandhya (Kuzhalmandam, Palakkad), B. Saranya (Kollam), C.V. Anju (Nadapuram Kozhikode), T.S. Arya (Kallara, Thiruvananthapuram), E. Sisira (Mancheri, Malappuram) are co-riders.

∙ Bullet Regiment

These are the people who completed their training at the Thiruvananthapuram Pallipuram CRPF camp and joined the service in 2021. 3 of the riders already knew how to ride a bike. Two others learned after joining the service. Co-riders will also ride bikes. Last year, on Women’s Day, they rode from India Gate to Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh. The journey was completed in 11 days.

∙ All India Riders

They also participated in the All India Ride conducted by CRPF as a part of women empowerment. The 10,000 km ride was organized from 3 zones namely Srinagar–Gujarat, Kanyakumari–Gujarat and Shillong–Gujarat. In this, a ten-member Malayalee team biked from Kanyakumari to Gujarat. Completed the journey in 28 days.

On October 31, he participated in the Ekta Divas parade in Gujarat, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is the excellence in this that made it possible to participate in the Republic Day Parade.

∙ Hard training

They train from 5 am in the bitter cold of Delhi. M.K said that after waking up at 2.45 in the morning, after preparations, he will leave for training at 4 am. Ginzi said.

∙ Jumping, Nari Shakti

Apart from CRPF, women from paramilitary forces like Sashastra Seema Bal and BSF are also taking part in the adventure. Since 2018, BSF women have been included in the motorcycle adventure troupe in the Republic Day Parade. In 2019, Captain Shikha Surabhi was part of the Army’s daredevil team. Captain Tania Shergill led the men’s bike practice squad on Republic Day 2020.
