Republican tour: Woleu-Ntem receives with great fanfare the President of the Transition

Oyem, December 21, 2023 After the provinces of Ogooué Maritime and Ngounié, the President of the Transition, President of the Republic, Head of State, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema carries out from December 21 to 23, 2023, in the company of First Lady Zita Oligui Nguema, a republican stay in the Far North province.

Greeted with pomp on his arrival by a huge crowd made up of nationals from the different departments and communities of the province, the President of the Transition received the military honors due to his rank.

At the start of this 72-hour republican stay, the Head of State went to the official platform of the commune of Oyem, in order to commune with his compatriots, and his large family from the Province of Woleu- Ntem.

Through the occasional speeches of the Mayor, women, young people and elders of the commune of Oyem, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema was able to immerse himself in the daily difficulties of the different layers of these populations who, during these precious moments expressed their gratitude to him and respectfully greeted the act of liberation of August 30.

However, these populations each expressed some major expectations regarding themselves. For young people, this concerns in particular the completion of the construction of the University of Oyem, the work of which was launched under the late President Omar Bongo Ondimba, and the

promotion of IGAs in the field of agriculture.

Women, for their part, castigated the excesses of the outgoing regime and called on the new authorities to redouble their work in restoring institutions and the dignity of citizens, to encourage the empowerment of women through the construction of more markets in the localities, and increase the representation of women within the country’s decision-making bodies.

In their speech, the executives and notables called on the President of the Republic to work more for national reconciliation, complete the reconstruction work started by the CTRI and organize an inclusive national dialogue which will lead to the construction of a new Gabon.

Listening attentively to the interventions of his compatriots, the President of the Republic who expressed all his emotion and gratitude for the welcome given to him in Woleu-Ntemoise land, returned to the fundamentals and objectives of the Transition. While providing some immediate solutions to the concerns raised, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema urged the populations to cultivate a patriotic and unifying spirit, in discipline, respect for authorities, values ​​and elders, and to each contribute their part. to the building for the construction of a strong and united nation.

At the end of these exchanges, the Head of State and his wife attended a series of stage performances by students from the commune of Oyem before proceeding in the presence of members of the government to hand over a large batch of equipment IT and teaching for students.

The next stages of the Head of State’s stay in the north include a series of activities including the launch of urban road development works and the extension of infrastructure in certain localities such as Oyem, Meyokye and others.
