President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has advised health officials to take steps to make the second dose of corona virus vaccine available to all persons over 60 years of age who have been vaccinated for the past three months through the mobile service.

The president made the suggestion during a meeting of the Corona Prevention Task Force this morning (Friday).

It was decided to give this booster vaccine to everyone over the age of 60 who goes to the clinic in hospitals, at the clinic.

It was also decided to give the second dose of vaccine against coronavirus infection and the third dose to all those over the age of 20 who have been exposed to infectious diseases for the past one month.

Accordingly, cancer patients, those undergoing treatment for cancer, those undergoing organ transplants, transfused patients, and those with weakened immune systems due to infection will be vaccinated with the third dose prescribed by a specialist.

Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services, Specialist, said that a third vaccination drive would be carried out at the appropriate clinics or on Saturdays.

The availability of Molnupiravir Capsule, which is currently in use in some countries, including the UK, is also being discussed.

In addition, the President advised Foreign Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana to take steps to bring these lenses into the country through the State Pharmaceutical Corporation, just as he had brought the vaccines against the corona virus.

Discussions also focused on the lack of awareness among the rural population regarding the spread of corona infection and the programs to control the spread of corona infection in the rural areas and to make them aware of it.
