Transnistrian authorities have imposed temporary restrictions on the sale of certain types of food due to the high demand caused by the crisis in Ukraine, TASS reports.

Notices were posted at the entrances of the shops announcing that limited quantities of cereals, oil, sugar, and salt are sold.

Although the authorities of Transnistria have assured the population that there is a sufficient supply of primary food of local and foreign production, the demand for food in a number of regions has increased significantly in recent days due to panic among the population. Bulk purchases fall mainly on goods supplied from Ukraine.

A similar situation exists in Moldova. Both basic necessities and gasoline and diesel fuel, the prices of which have increased significantly, are quickly consumed. Salt, which is bought in large quantities, has also disappeared from the shop windows.

The Ministry of Economy of Moldova has assured the population that there will be no shortage of salt in the country, as Moldova imports salt not only from Ukraine, but also from other countries. At the same time, the Moldovan authorities admitted that panic and sudden changes in demand caused certain problems in the supply process.
