Member of the “Armenia” faction Armen Gevorgyan He said in the National Assembly that a possible new package of sanctions against Russia is being discussed in the US Congress.

“At the core of the package, they are discussing the prospect of disconnecting RF from the Swift system. Has the impact of such a perspective on our banking agreement been assessed in some way, could it cause some problems for us as well,” Gevorgyan asked Hovhannes Khachatryan, the candidate for the deputy chairman of the Central Bank.

He noted that he is asking the question also taking into account the development of EAEU’s financial capabilities.

Khachatryan He also said that Russia is the main economic “partner” of Armenia and any shock is evaluated by projecting it on the economy of Armenia.

“Swift restrictions are going to change a lot of big, important things in the region. “Shockers, yes, are regularly evaluated, although the dependence has decreased a little, it used to be more linear, now it’s not,” he said.

According to the candidate for the deputy president of the Central Bank, Armenia and other member states within the framework of the EAEU are doing everything possible in any initiatives so that, for example, Armenia and Kazakhstan do not end up in sanctions.

“Some alternatives to “Swift” are being created, but, in any case, “Swift” is global,” Khachatryan emphasized.
