Revealed: Why does an iPhone cost so much money?

According to the report in Bloomberg, a new manager was recently appointed for the iPhone production area at the Chinese headquarters of Foxconn, the company that produces most of these devices. At his first event in the new title, Michael Chiang, who replaces Chang-Yang Wang, said that the production of the iPhone is particularly challenging because, unlike Android devices, whose production lines the company needs to employ 100 people per production line, on each iPhone production line 1,200 people are needed.

Bloomberg did not expand beyond mentioning this fact at the time – but the other sites stated that the difference probably stems from Apple’s requirement that every stage of production be done and checked by humans, who will make sure that it is done perfectly. Therefore, each iPhone goes through many more workers, each of whom needs to be paid for the time and effort they put into it. Hence, probably, the high price of the devices – in terms of the cost of their components, they are equivalent to Android devices for the medium-high market, whose parts cost between 300 and 500 dollars, but in practice they are sold for well over 1,000 dollars.
