The 34M2C8600 is the first QD-Oled model from Philips. It features the famous 34-inch QD-Oled curved UWQHD 175 Hz FreeSync panel from Samsung Display, and above all the Ambiglow system, the monitor equivalent of the manufacturer’s Ambilight.
Oled took a while to arrive on PC monitors, but the wait is rewarded. The image quality is simply perfect, as is the responsiveness of the screen which is incomparable compared to LCD models. If we add to this perfect ergonomics, complete connectivity and a few little extras like the Ambiglow ambient lighting system, the Philips Envia 34M2C8600 is undoubtedly one of the best monitors on the market, if not the best to date — while waiting to test the competing QD-Oled models and the new Oled models (LG).
Points forts
- Image quality.
- Infinite contrast.
- Precision of the QD-Oled panel.
- FreeSync up to 175Hz.
- Finishing.
- Manufacturing quality.
- Ambiglow system.
- Port USB-C 90 W.
Weak points
- Rather wide screen borders.
- Low resolution in absolute terms (109 pixels per inch).
- Presence of a fan (inaudible).
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).
An alternative
Inaugurated by Samsung Display with its QD-Oled panel (see the review of the Philips Envia 34M2C8600), Oled technology on monitors keeps all its promises. In addition to the intrinsic image quality, including infinite contrast and open viewing angles, the LG UltraGear 27GR95QE monitor impresses above all with its unrivaled responsiveness. This model will delight competitive players who seek, above all, performance without any compromise.
