Rezo’s new destruction video is a haunting appeal

by time news

Berlin“We can’t do it without you”, YouTuber Rezo’s new video on the climate catastrophe is more than just bashing politicians before the election. It is a haunting appeal. In part two of his new destruction video series, Rezo reminds the older generation that the future of the younger generation is in their hands. And more radical measures against CO2 emissions are just as necessary as the rapid expansion of green energy.

Once again Rezo shows where politicians fail and where money flows where it shouldn’t. But much more important is the last part of the half-hour lecture, in which he addresses the so-called boomers and seniors. Rezo has the necessary reach to reach thousands who would actually be ready to do something for the coming generations, but for whom the climate crisis does not yet seem real enough to actually act. Because it is tempting to suppress future problems.

“Think about your retirement!” Warn parents and grandparents. But what if they don’t even exist because the entire system collapsed due to the climate catastrophe, we fled and had to give up our rights and freedoms?

Rezo recalls this scenario in his video. The fact that the elderly have the power to make decisions about a future that they do not even experience. And because the younger generation has given up a lot in the last few months out of solidarity. In Rezo’s words, the belief and hope that this intergenerational solidarity also exists the other way round resonate. As a result, they do not seem like a moral sermon, but rather like a request. A very urgent request that I hope many people will comply with.
