The Ribera Salud group announced Wednesday night that CEO Pablo Gallart has requested to be relieved of his responsibilities for the management of the Torrejón Hospital.This move comes as the group responds to leaked audio recordings in which Gallart allegedly directed hospital commanders to increase waiting times and eliminate profitable procedures in an effort to boost financial gains. The company stated the request was made “to guarantee the values and ethics that have always characterized the Group,” and that an in-depth audit will be conducted to ensure no breaches of quality standards, professional ethics, or the law have occurred.

Following a meeting on September 25 where Gallart reportedly conveyed these instructions to approximately twenty hospital leaders,both regional and national political figures have reacted strongly. The Community of Madrid, led by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, urgently summoned the manager of the torrejón hospital for an emergency meeting, promising swift action.
Hours later, Ribera salud released its statement. The Ministry of Health indicated it will request a new meeting with “the head of the company,” now that Gallart has stepped back from direct management of the hospital center, hoping to schedule it “immediately.”

Further condemnation came from Minister of Health, Mónica García (sumar), who accused President Díaz Ayuso of prioritizing “money above lives” and announced that Más madrid is preparing “legal actions” against the regional government.Óscar López, spokesperson for the regional PSOE and Minister for Digital Transformation, echoed these sentiments, stating his party is also exploring legal options and will request the appearance of the Minister of Health, Fátima Matute, before the Assembly to provide an accounting.
