Prime Video has opted not to renew the buddy spy comedy series Ride Or Die for a second season, according to Deadline. Despite the show’s strong streaming performance and positive reviews, the platform decided against continuing the series. However, the lead studio behind the production, Paramount Television Studios, is currently shopping the series to other buyers.
Prime Video Cancels Ride Or Die After One Season
Created by Tessa Coates, Ride Or Die stars Hannah Waddingham as Judith Burton and Octavia Spencer as best friend Debbie Claybourne. The official logline explains that the characters thought they knew everything about each other until Judith turns up as an international assassin. When a mysterious figure emerges from her past and a hit goes wrong, the duo is forced to go on the run together across Europe while pursued by law enforcement, highly trained assassins, and dangerous criminals.
The first season also stars Ed Skrein as Billy, Calam Lynch as Sam, Savannah Steyn as Queenie, Jamie Parker as David, Jacky Ido as Jacques, Sylvia Hoeks as Ana, and Bill Nighy as The Director. Season 1 concluded with several cliffhangers establishing major storylines for a potential second installment.
Strong Streaming Ratings and Viewership Milestones
The cancellation came as a surprise to those involved with the series, given its robust performance on viewership charts. The show made an immediate impact following its July debut, during which all eight episodes dropped at once on Prime Video. With just two days of release, the action comedy logged 927K views on Luminate’s weekly U.S. rankings, doubling the figures for Elle and nearly quadrupling those for Off Campus.
The series continued to dominate domestic and global metrics:

- Claimed the No. 1 spot in U.S. minutes watched during its first full week on Luminate.
- Debuted at No. 8 on the overall streaming chart and No. 3 among originals on the Nielsen Weekly Top 10 with 869 million minutes viewed.
- Climbed to No. 4 overall and No. 2 on the streaming originals chart in its second week with 922 million minutes viewed.
- Ranked as Prime Video’s most-watched new scripted series in the U.S. over its first 14 days of release spanning July 30, 2025, to July 29, 2026.
- Maintained the No. 1 position as the most-watched Prime Video original series globally for its first three weeks.
- Spent five consecutive weeks among the Top 10 Originals across all streaming services on Nielsen’s charts, including 506 million viewing minutes during the week of August 3–9.
- Remained in Prime Video’s weekly Global Top 10 more than two months after release, landing at No. 8.
Furthermore, completion rates for the series were reportedly in line with several renewed Prime Video shows, including Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Scarpetta, and Elle.
