Fidler, a recent NCAA standout, aims to make an immediate impact in his professional debut.
“Riga Zeļļi” has officially signed American player Franky Fidler. The move aims to strengthen the team’s presence at the forward position for the upcoming season. Fidler makes his professional debut after a solid collegiate career in the NCAA.
Last season, Fidler played for the NCAA team “Spartans,” appearing in 35 games. He averaged 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. Before his stint with the Spartans, Fidler spent three seasons with another NCAA team, the Mavericks.
The club sees Fidler as a valuable addition, noting his ability to contribute to the team’s goals. “We were looking for extra forces at the long end and found Fidler,” a team representative stated. “He is a player who donated a lot last season to the team’s interest, but previously played the role of a leader in a college career. The mix of this feature in our eyes makes Frankia a great addition.”
The team expressed confidence in Fidler’s potential. “Fidler is ready for his first step in professional basketball, and we believe that he will find a platform with us to develop and fully realize his potential by taking responsibility and becoming one of the team leaders,” the statement continued.
Fidler becomes the second foreign player to join “Riga Zeļļi” for the 2025/2026 season. The club had previously reached an agreement with fellow American Frank Champion.
