A detached trailer triggered a fatal collision on national Route 23 in Río Negro province on Thursday evening, resulting in the immediate death of Raúl Ernesto Vecini, a 69-year-old resident of Laprida, Buenos Aires. his passenger was rushed to a clinic in Viedma,the provincial capital,and remains in intensive care with serious injuries.
According to a statement from Commissioner Gustavo Rodríguez, the tragedy unfolded when a truck lost its trailer, which then crossed into the opposite lane. The trailer collided head-on with the vehicle driven by Vecini, leaving the driver with no time to react. “the collision was unavoidable and devastating,” Rodríguez stated.
The Valcheta Unit immediately responded to the emergency, providing crucial support at the scene. Route 23 is a vital transportation corridor, connecting rural areas and various regions within the province. Authorities are currently investigating whether the detachment was caused by a mechanical failure or negligence on the part of the truck driver, including potential issues with maintenance or the coupling of the unit. Belgrano Fan Dies in Rosario-Córdoba Highway Crash
In a separate incident, Matías Pérez, a devoted fan of the Belgrano football club, died on friday morning in a crash on the Rosario-Córdoba highway. Pérez was traveling with two companions when their vehicle rear-ended a truck near Cañada de Gómez, Santa Fe, while returning from a semifinal match between Belgrano and Argentinos Juniors in Rosario.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. near kilometer 356, according to the Provincial Road Safety Agency (APSV) of Santa Fe. Pérez, in his 20s, was driving a Volkswagen Fox at the time of the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other passengers sustained multiple traumas and were rescued by firefighters from Cañada de Gómez before being urgently transported to Saint Joseph Hospital for medical attention.
“the other two people suffered serious injuries. They had been trapped inside the vehicle,” explained Rafael Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the APSV. Belgrano’s leadership released a statement expressing their deep sorrow over the loss of Pérez,a valued member of the club.
