Riobamba is preparing to receive the best cyclists in the country in the National Road Championship that will take place from February 1 to 3, 2024.
This edition of the National Championship will be special, since the most important cyclists in the country have confirmed their presence in Riobamba. Richard Carapaz, Jhonatan Narváez, Martín López, Alexander Cepeda, Jhonatan Caicedo, Jefferson Cepeda, Miryam Núñez, Ana Vivar and Esther Galarza will participate in this important event that will be broadcast nationally on the Teleamazonas signal.
In addition, the two main teams in our country (Movistar Best PC and Team Banco Guayaquil) will participate with the best of their roster.
Asked about his participation in this Championship, Richard Carapaz left the following reflection in an interview with Radio La Red: “The National Championship will be a flatter course, there will not be as much mountain. I’m sure it will be a very strong competition. This event is a positive thing, perhaps it is the only time people will see the best in cycling.”
On Thursday, January 1 (from 09:00) the emotions of this National Championship will begin with the men’s and women’s Time Trial events (youth, Under 23 and elite), on Friday, February 2, the youth road events will take place, while On Saturday, February 3 (from 09:00) this event will culminate with the men’s and women’s road events (U23 and elite).
The elite time trial events will have a route of 1 lap (women) and 2 laps (men) around a 20.32 kilometer urban circuit, while the elite road tests will have a route of 7 laps (women) and 11 laps (men). ) for a circuit of 16.42 kilometers.
Richard Carapaz and Ana Vivar are the current road champions, although their titles are at high risk of passing into other hands, since cyclists like Jhonatan Narváez and Miryam Núñez come with an extraordinary present that places them as serious candidates to win.
