rob Reiner’s Wife and Family Member Found Dead in Apparent Homicide Examination
Los Angeles authorities are investigating the deaths of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman at the home of director Rob Reiner, with a family member currently being questioned in connection to the case.
The Los angeles Police Department responded to a medical aid request at Reiner’s residence in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, discovering the two individuals deceased. While authorities have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the victims, a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation indicated they were reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. Investigators believe the deaths resulted from stab wounds.
“We are going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation,” stated Deputy Chief Alan hamilton,the chief of detectives,during a Sunday night briefing.
Detectives from the Robbery Homicide Division are leading the investigation, classifying the incident as an “apparent homicide,” according to Captain Mike Bland of the Los Angeles Police Department. A senior official stated that a family member is currently being questioned, but no suspect has been formally identified.
The scene is located approximately one mile from the location where Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were murdered in 1994, a chilling coincidence noted by local residents. Killings are considered rare in the affluent Brentwood area.
