The US will consider a complete ban on the use of robots when calling live people. This was reported by Engadget, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
A statement from the head of the agency, Jessica Rosenworcel, appeared on the website of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). She said robocalls should be made illegal and banned. Rosenworcel explained that she was referring to technologies in which artificial intelligence (AI) generates the voices of living people and impersonates a specific person.
“AI-generated voice and image cloning is already sowing confusion, leading consumers to believe scams are legitimate,” the FCC chief said. According to Jessica Rosenworcel, more and more people are being targeted by scammers who abuse AI.
According to media journalists, Rosenworcel’s statement came amid complaints from US citizens. Earlier it turned out that before the primaries in the state of New Hampshire, residents of the state received calls using artificial intelligence – the robot introduced itself as Joe Biden, copied his voice and, on behalf of the US President, urged voters not to participate in the primary elections.
