Roma-Feyenoord: inflatable bananas thrown on the pitch during the final

by time news

The first final of the Europa League Conference (C4), won this Wednesday evening by AS Roma against Feyenoord Rotterdam, was marked by racist gestures in the stands. According to information from RMC Sports, two inflatable bananas were thrown on the lawn of the stadium in Tirana (Albania) in the 35th minute shortly after the opener for the Romans.

In caption of this video posted by an Internet user, we can read that it was the Roman supporters who threw the objects but the Dutch fans placed behind one of the two goals would in fact be at the origin of these jets, which occurred just before a corner, according to RMC.

“We saw (Roman striker) Tammy Abraham harangue the Feyenoord supporters who are behind their goalkeeper’s goal, we saw two inflatable bananas go down, it’s scandalous”, specified the commentators of the channel W9, broadcaster of this final, just after the incident.

And this is not the first time that incidents have taken place during a match between Roma and Feyenoord according to RMC, which recalls that in 2015, during a round of 16 of the Europa League between these same two teams, an inflatable banana had been thrown on the lawn of the Rotterdam stadium in the direction of the Ivorian striker of Roma, Gervinho. In the second half, the match was even interrupted by the referee, who sent the two teams back to the locker room for a few minutes after other throwing objects on the lawn.
