/ Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo considered that the Saudi League, where he has been defending Al-Nasr Club since January 2022, is “more competitive” than its French counterpart, on the sidelines of the Globe Soccer Awards in Abu Dhabi.

Ronaldo said today, Friday, when asked about the level of the Saudi League, “Frankly, I do not think that the Saudi League is less valuable than the French League. I think it is more competitive.”

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner for the best player added, “They (critics of major transfers to the Saudi League) can say whatever they want. This is just my opinion and I played here for a year, so I know what I’m talking about. I think we are now better than the French League and we continue to improve.”

The Saudi League clubs have spent huge sums of money in the recent period in order to attract big stars, the first of whom was Ronaldo, before he was joined this season by players such as his former teammate at Real Madrid, the Spanish French striker Karim Benzema and his compatriot N’Golo Kante (Al-Ittihad), the Brazilian Neymar (Al-Hilal), and the Algerian. Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahly) and Senegalese Sadio Mane (Al-Nasr).
