“Rosselkhoznadzor” expresses concern regarding the frequency of violations in the supply of vegetable products from Armenia. It is stated on the agency’s website that in 2023, the regional departments of “Rosselkhoznadzor” found 72 cases of quarantine pests in flower, fruit and vegetable products received from the Republic of Armenia.

“A sharp increase in violations was recorded in November. Only from November 24 to 26, 36 cases of the importation of infected flowers, cucumbers, dried fruits, grapes, cauliflower, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, apples, and pears into Russia were recorded and they reached the border of the Russian Federation according to the phytosanitary certificates issued by the Food Safety Inspection Authority of the Republic of Armenia. accompanied. “Grapholita molesta (Busck), tomato brown rugose fruit virus, and western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis Pergand) were identified as quarantine objects in plant products for EAEU member countries,” the report said.

It is also noted that in November 5 cases of exceeding the maximum allowable amount of pesticide residues in tomatoes, strawberries, apples and grapes taken from Armenia were found, which may indicate a violation of the regulations on the use of pesticides by producers.

“This indicates a decrease in control by the food safety inspection body of Armenia and poses a threat to Russia’s phytosanitary well-being.

Considering this situation, “Rosselkhoznadzor” has sent an official letter to Armenia, asking it to immediately take comprehensive measures to prevent shipments of infected products to Russia and to inform the Russian department about the work done in this direction,” the message states.

According to the report, the phytosanitary control at the border is carried out in the usual mode, the rules for inspection and customs clearance of cargo coming from Armenia have not changed.
