On October 31, on behalf of the Rainbow RPG executives, Lanciné Sacko, the party’s coordinator in the United Kingdom, wrote to Sir Lindsay Hoyle, MP and Speaker of the British House of Commons. He spoke to him about the “illegal detention” of the former ministers for 18 months and requested British help for their release.

The ECOWAS Court of Justice delivered its judgment on October 16, in the case of Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, former Prime Minister, Mohamed Diané and Oyé Guilavogui, respectively former Ministers of Defense and the Environment, against the Guinean State. The sub-regional court ordered their release and sentenced the Guinean State to pay 10 thousand dollars to each of the defendants, as compensation for “illegal detention and violation of primary rights.” However, the decision was not implemented. At least for the moment. The Guinean State has three months to implement the judgment of the ECOWAS Court of Justice.

Ibrahima Kassory Fofana and Co. are being prosecuted for embezzlement of public funds, illicit enrichment and money laundering. They were imprisoned in April 2022. They are struggling to get out of prison, despite several releases, blocked by the special prosecution of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (Crief).

In his letter to the Speaker of the British House of Commons, Lanciné Sacko, recalls that the continued imprisonment of Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, Mohamed Diané and Oyé Guilavogui “is not only illegal. It has also become undeniably arbitrary. It is of paramount importance to ensure their immediate and unconditional release. »

The Rainbow Rpg believes that the involvement of the British House of Commons in the affair of the former dignitaries “cannot be overestimated, it is of the utmost importance. We are convinced that your unwavering support will considerably accelerate the resolution of this difficult situation. Your continued dedication to the progress and betterment of Africa is greatly appreciated, and your collaboration in this endeavor is a remarkable testimony to your commitment to justice and human rights. »

At Crief, the cases of the said accused are not moving forward. That of Oyé Guilavogui against the special prosecution has entered a new phase. His lawyers avoided the last hearing, just to demand the release of their client, in accordance with the ruling of the ECOWAS Court of Justice, before their return to the hearing. This is the second time they have avoided the trial.

Remember that Kassory Fofana and Co. are being prosecuted by Crief for embezzlement of public funds, illicit enrichment and money laundering.
