The Respiratory Syncytial Virus is the leading cause of bronchiolitis, pneumonia, and other Lower Acute Respiratory Infections (LRTI) in babies. Vaccination during pregnancy allows for the transfer of antibodies to the baby through the placenta, providing crucial protection during the most critical period immediately after birth.
The initiative, which began a month ago, has seen a steady increase in participation, with new individuals visiting the Vaccination Center daily to access this preventative measure. The campaign is scheduled to run until August 31, and vaccinations are free and require no medical order for administration.
The Vaccination Center welcomes all members of the community, regardless of insurance coverage. Care is provided Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the facility located at Juan Ramón Balcarce 1240, KM 3 in Comodoro Rivadavia.
Health authorities emphasize the importance of completing the vaccination within the designated timeframe, as a proactive step to minimize severe respiratory complications in newborns during peak viral circulation periods.
