Ëda diaz: A Mélange of Cultures

Ëda Diaz, a musician with roots in both France and Colombia, embodies a truly global sound. Shaped by her upbringing traveling between Paris and Medellín, Diaz seamlessly blends languages, cultures, rhythms, and musical styles. Growing up, she was immersed in the sounds of the tiple guitar, tango by Carlos Gardel, and traditional Colombian genres like boleros and Bambucos.

Diaz primarily performs as a bassist and vocalist, weaving these diverse influences into her album, “Suave Bruta,” described as a “happy, eclectic collage.” Her concerts promise an immersive experience, incorporating not only traditional instrumentation but also samples from the natural world, such as bird calls and owl sounds, alongside lyrical echoes of celebrated Latin American writers like Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, and Gabriel García Márquez.

Dubioza Kolektiv’s sound is a dynamic fusion of reggae, Balkan rhythms, and hip hop, enhanced by the inclusion of instruments like the window and accordion.
