THE MORNING LIST

After jazz and so-called world music, then classical and contemporary music, this fall comes to pop, rock or rap with a selection of concerts involving several stars on show in the weeks to come and until at the end of November-beginning of December, for which it is prudent to book in advance.

Rufus Wainwright’s Parisian Getaway

While on tour in the United States, the Canadian-American dandy takes a brief European getaway for a series of three concerts at the Philharmonie de Paris. This short residency presented under the title “Rufus-Retro-Wainwright-Spective” takes a different approach from the usually chronological retrospectives. The repertoire – essentially devoted to his pop records – is intended to be classified each evening thematically according to three categories: “Songs of youth and addiction”, “Songs of love and desire”, “Songs of disdain and of resistance”. Contrary to the original compositions with their sumptuous orchestrations, the Parisian concerts are intended to be intimate: the author-composer and performer (on piano and guitar) is accompanied on stage by Zak Hobbs (guitar) and Jacob Mann (piano), with support for video projections. Paris Philharmonic, 221 avenue Jean-Jaurès, Paris 19th. October 9, 10 and 11, at 8 p.m. From €17 to €47.

Revealed in 1992 with the title song of his second album, More than anything, Pascal Obispo has since led a long career – under his own name and during various collaborations, notably with Florent Pagny, for the successful musical The ten Commandments – which his current tour should reflect. Indeed, on the posters where the singer and songwriter appears, the title “30 years of success” is written with the titles of his most famous songs in the background, including, in addition More than anything in the world, Fell for her, Person, Lucie, Fan, The Desire to Love, Light the Fire (composed by Obispo and Pierre Jaconelli, written by Zazie for Johnny Hallyday)… Obispo should add extracts from his new studio album, released mid-September, The Raining Beauty (Atletico Records/Kuroneko). With in particular several beautiful ballads, The Beautiful That Rains, How to Love Yourself, The Wall or Deep down I was happy, and some well-executed funky twists Never, The time I have left or My piano was thrown out the window.
