Time.news – The Kremlin admits that the situation in Ukraine is “very difficult” and still far from its objectives but specifies that this depends on the fact that “it is not a war, but an operation aimed at saving cities and human lives”.

“The special military operation continues. It is a very difficult operation and, of course, some objectives have been achieved in one year,” the Russian presidency spokesman said Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the Bosnian television channel ATV, reported by the Tass agency.

If the priority established at the start of the operation by the president Vladimir Putin was to ensure the safety of residents of Donbass, Peskov stressed, this goal was only partially achieved.

“This task has only been partially solved. We are still far from being able to complete it. There are shelling from multiple launchers, shelling of Donetsk and other localities, and we need to push the enemy back to a considerable distance. For this, the operation will continue,” Peskov stressed . He then recalled the results obtained: “Important territories in Donbass have been liberated“.

For Putin’s spokesman, there is no doubt that Russian forces will eventually conquer the disputed city of Bakhmut, which has been devastated for 9 months by what has become the longest battle of the conflict.

The slowness of Russian progress, he insisted, is due to the fact that “we are not at war. Making war is a completely different thing, and it means the complete destruction of infrastructure and cities. We are not doing that. infrastructure and human lives”.
