The Russian Football Union is negotiating with the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to gradually restore the participation of the Russian national football team in the tournaments held under the auspices of the organizations, announced the Deputy General Secretary of the Russian Football Union Denis Rogachev.
“It is a rather complicated negotiation process, we are also negotiating on the issues of participating in the Central Asian Football Association Championship in June, gradually returning to the tournaments held under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA,” said Rogachev.
It should be noted that on March 23, the Russian national team will hold a friendly match with the Iranian national team in Tehran. On March 26, the Russians have another friendly match scheduled. In the match to be held in Saint Petersburg, their opponent will be the national team of Iraq
To remind, on February 28, 2022, FIFA and UEFA decided not to allow Russian football teams and clubs to participate in tournaments held under their auspices. The ban was imposed in connection with Russia’s military operation in Ukraine.
