10:02 a.m.: The “Moscow Times”, a “foreign agent” according to Moscow
Russian authorities have imposed “foreign agent” status on an English-language publication, The Moscow Times, as well as other members of civil society. The Moscow Timesa publication with a site in English and Russian, appeared in the list updated every Friday by the Ministry of Justice.
The Russian ministry accused The Moscow Times “of having disseminated inaccurate information on the decisions taken and the policies carried out by public authorities” and “carried out actions aimed at giving a negative image of the authorities”.
Some Moscow Times employees left Russia in the wake of the Russian assault on Ukraine in February 2022.
