Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was quoted by Sputnik news agency as saying at a United Nations Security Council meeting: “Moscow strongly condemns Israeli attacks that violate Lebanon’s sovereignty,” warning that “the Middle East region today is on the brink of a major war again. “
Lavrov stressed the need to “immediately stop the cycle of violence before the situation gets completely out of control, which is what some people really want and want to provoke a big war.”
The Russian Foreign Minister spoke to the representatives of the United States, saying: “The choice now facing Washington is to continue blocking the work or demand an end to the war,” adding: “No full support for the profession can end conflict quickly and effectively.”
