New Delhi: Shashi Tharoor MP Shashi Tharoor, an Indian student in Ukraine, has spoken out against India’s stance on the Russia-Ukraine issue. He said India should adopt a friendly approach to Ukraine.

He said Russia was violating international law and that India should try to dissuade Russia from going to war. He said his view was that India’s silence on the issue was “bad”.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Ambassador to India Igor Polikha called on India to intervene to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. He said that Russia was carrying out an attack on democracy and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin to end it.

“I do not know if Putin will obey world leaders. India must intervene with all its might at the global level. We seek India’s support. Modiji is a respected leader. India has a special relationship with Russia.

He urged India to use its strong ties with Russia to avoid a crisis that could engulf the world. “Ukraine is facing a serious crisis due to violence from all three sides,” he said. Polikha referred to the Russian army attacking from the east, north and north-west of Ukraine and through Belarus.
