But Putin is willing to use chemical weapons before opting for nuclear confrontation with NATO, according to six people familiar with the matter.
Citing sources, Politico reported that President Joe Biden’s administration is working to ensure its Western allies are prepared to deal with such an attack by Russia. The sources said Washington predicted Russia would use chemical weapons if Russia suffered further losses on the battlefield or if Putin’s forces collapsed altogether.
