Russia-Ukraine War | Russia says Ukraine destroys US-supplied weapons

by time news
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia said on Monday it had destroyed weapons supplied to Ukraine by the United States and European countries. Russia’s Defense Ministry said the runway at the military airfield near the Ukrainian city of Odessa was destroyed.

Ukraine had earlier accused Russia of attacking the newly built runway at Odessa’s main airport, after which the Russian ministry confirmed that it had used the most high-powered onyx missiles in the airfield. Ukraine is reported to have stored weapons provided by the United States and other European countries.

Odessa Regional Governor Maxim Marchenko said Russia had used a Bastin missile launched from Crimea. Russia’s Defense Ministry says two Ukrainian SU-24 bombers fired their anti-aircraft defenses over the Kharkiv region last night.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian police on Saturday found three bodies with their hands tied and shot in the head near the town of Bucha, which had been devastated by Russian violence. The three bodies found in a pit were “brutally killed” by Russian soldiers – each shot in the head, police said in a statement. “Victims’ hands were tied, their eyes were covered with cloth, and some had their mouths covered. There are signs of torture on the bodies, ”it said.

Russian forces continue shelling the eastern part of the country, killing at least one person and wounding 12 others.

Meanwhile, in Odessa, local governor Maxim Marchenko said a Russian missile had blown up the airport runway – and there were no reports of protests at the airport in Odessa, Russia’s western border.

In the eastern part of Ukraine, the Russian army has made small progress in some areas, but in recent days the Ukrainian army has recaptured the area – especially around the city of Kharkiv.

The evacuees said the village of Ruska Losova, one of the areas recaptured from Russian control, had been occupied for two months. “Two months was scary. It’s just a terrible, unrelenting fear, “said Natalia Kharkiv, a 28-year-old evacuator from Russia. “We were in the basement without food for two months and we were eating what we had,” said Svatoslav, 40.
