Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdolahian and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the developments in the South Caucasus, the latest state of cooperation and bilateral relations, some regional and international issues. Irna agency reported about it.
Referring to the developments taking place in the Caucasus, Amir Abdullahian welcomed the process of negotiating a stable peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia and emphasized Iran’s support in establishing peace and stability in the region. Lavrov, in turn, stated that Russia sincerely, honestly and unconditionally respects the territorial integrity of Iran, and Moscow cannot change that position. In this telephone conversation, the parties emphasized the principle of respecting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It should be reminded that the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the Chargé d’affaires attached to the Russian Embassy a few days ago due to the statement of the Russian representative regarding the disputed islands in the Persian Gulf.
