Kyiv: A Ukrainian girl was attacked by Russian troops on her birthday. Russian soldiers have shot dead a young woman who went out to buy medicine for her ailing mother. Thirty-one-year-old Valeria Maxsetska was killed in a village near the capital, Kiev. Valeria’s mother, Irina, and the driver of the vehicle were killed in the attack from a Russian tank.
Valeria, a health worker, refused to leave the country despite the Russian offensive. Born in Donetsk, she moved to the vicinity of Kiev and was able to help those affected by the war. It worked with the United States Agency for International Development. But the girl decided to leave the country with her sick mother after she ran out of medicine.
