A short animated film by Russian director Anton Dyakov “Boxballet” was shortlisted for the Oscar. The corresponding list, compiled by the American Film Academy, is published on the website of the award.
The film is nominated for a prize in the Best Animated Short Film category. Initially, 82 films were nominated, and 15 paintings were included in the short-list: “Deeds of Art”, “Angakusajaujuk: Shaman’s Apprentice”, “Beast” and others.
Duration of “Boxballet” is 15 minutes. The film tells about the love story of the boxer Eugene with the ballerina Olga.
This year, Boxballet won the Best Animated Work nomination at the Shorter Russian festival and received the main prize in the Short Meter nomination at the Ikar Prize.
The full list of Oscar nominees will be published on February 8, 2022. The award ceremony will take place on March 27th.
