Kiev: 600 days after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, 68 lakh people have fled Ukraine as refugees.

Russia launched an offensive against Ukraine on February 24 after it decided to join NATO. Currently this war has reached 100 days.

Ukraine’s major cities have been decimated and taken over by the Russian military. From the beginning of the Russian offensive, the people of that country fled to neighboring countries in search of protection. Most people have gone to Poland. In addition, Ukrainians have fled to Romania, Hungary, Moldova and Slovakia as refugees.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) estimates that 36 million people have settled in Poland alone. Thus the population of the country has increased by 10% in the last 3 months.

A total of 68 lakh people have fled Ukraine as refugees due to the Russian invasion. The population of Ukraine in 2021 was 4 crore 30 lakhs. At present it has come down to 3 crore 70 lakhs. This is the largest refugee problem Europe has seen since World War II.

About 80 million people have been displaced from war-torn areas into Ukraine. Almost every second in Ukraine, a child becomes a war refugee. Russia is facing different problems. The world has imposed 5,831 sanctions on Russia since the attack.
