The International Football Federation (FIFA) has signed a contract to broadcast matches of the FIFA World Cup. It was received by the consortium “2 Sport 2”, which represents Channel One, VGTRK and Match TV.

This was reported by the press service of FIFA. The consortium “2 Sport 2” will provide “comprehensive coverage of the tournament in the host country of the World Cup,” the message says.

The rights to cover the tournament are provided without reference to specific platforms, the message says: fans will be able to follow the tournament on television, on the Internet, on mobile platforms and radio.

The amount of the contract has not been specified. Earlier, the general producer of Channel One, Alexander Fayfman, told TASS that the contract had been agreed and the parties expected to sign it before the New Year.

“The Russian consortium of broadcasters has done a fantastic job of hosting the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in the host country this summer. We are confident that they will help us convey the special atmosphere of the big football festival in Russia next year, ”FIFA Commercial Director Philippe Le Flock is quoted as saying.

TV rights have also been determined in Italy, the report says: they were received by Mediaset, which will broadcast all 64 matches on its free channels.

The matches of the FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15, 2018 at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia.

A representative of Channel One confirmed to Vedomosti the information on the conclusion of the contract and declined to comment further. Representatives of VGTRK and Match TV at the time of publication did not respond to requests from Vedomosti.
