Doctor of Medical Sciences Vladimir Nikiforov said that simultaneous infection with influenza and COVID-19 increases symptoms and makes both influenza and coronavirus more dangerous.

Nikiforov said that the likelihood of such a scenario is relatively low, since coronavirus and influenza compete with each other and in some way “protect” the body from each other, since they have corresponding mechanisms.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of flu cases was low, the expert recalled.
