Russia Launches Largest Ever Drone Attack on Ukraine, Killing 1 and Injuring 7

In a shocking turn of events, Russia launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy and injuring 7 others. The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, saw Russia deploying approximately 90 drones, the largest number in any single attack on Ukraine.

According to military chief Olef Kipp in Odesa city, Ukraine’s air defense missiles managed to intercept and destroy 87 of the incoming drones. However, debris from the attack landed in a residential area, resulting in tragic consequences.

In addition to the casualties, the attack caused small-scale fires in various areas, including the Odessa port. The western Ukrainian city of Lviv saw drone strikes that caused damage to a museum dedicated to Roman Shukevich, a military commander who fought for Ukraine’s liberation in World War II, as well as university buildings in the city of Dubliani.

As tensions between Ukraine and Russia continue to boil, a Ukrainian missile attack on the Russian-occupied Donetsk region resulted in the deaths of 4 individuals, with 13 others injured. Among the casualties, a journalist was reportedly killed, although further details have yet to be released.

This latest escalation of violence comes within the context of Russia’s opposition to Ukraine’s NATO accession, which it sees as a threat to its national security. Ukraine’s interest in joining NATO, following the invasion and capture of its territories by Russia in February of the previous year, has further fueled the conflict and ongoing war between the two nations.

In response to the recent attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to provide a suitable response. In a retaliatory move, Ukraine launched a barrage of drones in multiple Russian regions and also attacked the Russian border city of Belgrade with missiles, resulting in 10 deaths.

The situation remains tense as Russia and Ukraine engage in a series of deadly encounters, with the latest drone attack marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.
