Actress Ruth Codd Announces Second Amputation, Reflects on “Celebrity Traitors” Journey

A rising actress and TikTok personality, Ruth Codd, has shared a personal update with her followers, revealing she underwent a second below-knee amputation. The announcement came as she resumed creating content from her parents’ home, marking a poignant return to her roots.

From Football Injury to Double Amputation

Codd’s journey began with a football injury sustained at age 15, which unfortunately did not heal correctly. This initial setback led to her first amputation at age 23. Speaking on TikTok, Codd explained the circumstances surrounding her recent surgery with characteristic candor. “Hi guys, so I have some good news and some bad news,” she began. “Good news, we’ve had a full circle moment, I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house, bad news, I can’t do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper anymore, due to the fact that, that room is upstairs, and I’ve just had my second below knee amputation.”

She acknowledged the significant life change, stating, “So unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time, yes, so lots to unpack there for everyone involved.” Codd also introduced her new wheelchair, affectionately named “Fat Tony,” wryly noting its limited speed, “She has the top speed of f*** all per hour, especially if there’s a step involved.”

“The Celebrity Traitors” and Rising Career

Codd recently appeared on the BBC1 hit show, The Celebrity Traitors, where she was eliminated – or “murdered” – by fellow contestants Jonathan Ross, Cat Burns, and Alan Carr. Reflecting on the experience, she described it as “surreal,” adding, “I mean … to say it’s been surreal … I’m not sure that I’m not about to be woken up from a very weird dream.”

Carr ultimately won the first series of the reality gameshow, deceiving contestants including TV historian David Olusoga and actor Nick Mohammed, and securing £87,500 for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK, which supports research and awareness for the rare cancer.

Beyond The Celebrity Traitors, Codd is building a career in acting, with roles in Netflix’s mystery thriller The Midnight Club and the streaming platform’s horror mini-series The Fall Of The House Of Usher. Her initial success stemmed from TikTok, where her comedic “nun videos” gained over 20 million likes during the COVID-19 pandemic, following the loss of her job as a professional make-up artist and barber.

Codd’s story is a testament to resilience and adaptability, demonstrating a remarkable ability to navigate life’s challenges with humor and grace.
