Young players like Rudraj Kejriwal and Venkatesh Iyer have been giving pleasant headaches to the Indian team selectors. They have been consistently scoring in IPL and domestic cricket matches and are playing an indisputable role in the Indian team.
Rudraj Kejriwal, who won the Orange Cup by amassing the most runs in the IPL, is continuing the same form in the Vijay Hazare series. Rudraj, who scored 136 against Madhya Pradesh in the first match of the Vijay Hazare series to help Maharashtra win the match, finished with 154 against Chhattisgarh in the second match. He also scored a hat-trick of 124 runs in the match against Kerala.
Former cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar has urged Rudraj Kejriwal, who has been consistently outstanding, to be included in the Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa at a time when he is in good form.
The Indian team will tour South Africa and play 3 Tests and 3 ODIs in the series. Vengsarkar has insisted that 24-year-old Rudraj Kejriwal be included in the Indian squad for the ODI series.
Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Vengsarkar said that a player who is in form should definitely be included in the team. How many more runs does Rudraj have to hit to prove his mettle? This is the perfect time for the selectors to take Rudraj directly to the Indian team. Rudraj is not a batsman in the 3rd row either. He is now 24. Now without taking him to the Indian team, there is no point in taking him at the age of 28. Dilip Vengsarkar has therefore insisted that Rudra should be included in the Indian ODI squad for the tour of South Africa.
