Several genes, “preserves culture” in the Somali language, this is Sahra Halgan’s third album. She sings about her country, Somaliland, this small territory in the north of Somalia, self-proclaimed independent in 1991, but which is still not recognized as a sovereign state. The 52-year-old artist, with a magnetic voice, reappropriates the fundamentals of rock’n’roll to electrify and above all make more vivid the traditional music of his forgotten homeland.
